HOW DO YOU STAY MOTIVATED IN THE MUSIC INDUSTRY?

Anyone in the music industry, whether they are just coming in or has been in for a long time knows how hard it can be at times to stay motivated. With so many musicians trying to get in and trying to stay in, it becomes a frustrating competion. I'm a lyric writer and at times my passion for writing is compromised by the business end of music. Producers being shady or promising success they can't deliver, the frustrating search to get signed, and the numerous scam A&R reps preying on your talent just to trick you out of your money. Through it all, I stay motivated by staying focused on my goal to become a hit lyric writer. I have visualized it in my mind. So when things get crazy I go back to my vision, keep writing and realize that even though I once said BECOMING a lyric writer is my dream, every day I write a song I AM LIVING my dream. Everything else wil fall into place. HOW DO YOU STAY MOTIVATED IN THE MUSIC INDUSTRY?

Honestly my music is my motivation. I have been singing since I was three years old and my father is a musician/sound engineer. Because of him I have been exposed to all types of musicians some are very successful, some have enjoyed limited success, and some just do it because it's in their heart. I myself have not achieved the level of success that I want and that is partially because of the types of people in this business that are greedy, selfish, and ignorant. But it is also because of the times when I lacked motivation to really go for it (success). I think that the turning point for me was completing my album and hearing people that I don't even know sing my lyrics. Seeing them emotionally respond to my own life experiences was amazing! That sealed the deal for me and I can recall that memory whenever I start to lose my motivation.
