I would like to start off with a discussion about food labels and ingredients. Personally as I was doing some research, I have really started to look on the back of the package to see exactly what these companies are adding to make their foods more acceptable to society. It is very interesting to research some of these ingredients to find out what they REALLY are. It blows your mind! What is your take on this?

I was told, If you can't pronounce it, don't eat it. I try to look for items that says 100%. The less ingredients the better. Also nothing in cans or those frozen bags.
I totally agree because its like some of these products are like a quick fix for foods to sale to the general public. It just amazes me how many people are still not aware of this type of situation. I think we need to get back to the basics as to where people were actually eating from their gardens and such.
I am from Jamaica and in the country, it seems like people never got sick and they lived very long. Like you said eating from their gardens. Natural fruits and vegetables, even fresh meat. In Jamaica families raise, chicken, goats, pigs, cows, and etc... It was a celebration when they kill a goat or pig. We do need to get back to the basics and this discussion you lead will help. I appreciate it.
First of all, I would like to know what information did you come up with after your research? Are there things in there that we should think twice about before consuming? Are there specific ingredients that we should be looking into?
I've came to the conclusion, that what really makes us sick as a people, is all the preservatives and hormones that go into our food supply today. Just look at the way our children are growing and the rate of obesity in this country.
Just let me know what you think and maybe we can start a dialog in an effort to help others.
thanks for the reply...some of the ingredients that are just not great to have in our foods are :
anything stating thatlist that it has partially hydrogenated or hydrogenated oils...these are just basically trans fats which are mainly like plastic in the body.....

I have also learned that even though a food item may state "no trans fat" it still might have some traces in there.. You see if an item says that and you look at the ingredients and it still suggest that it has partially hydrogenated oils in it ...it still has TRANS FATS! the only reason why they can still put it on the box stating that it has none beause it has not reached the regulated amount that is in it by the FDA standards for them by law to state it....thats why its important to look at our labels and ingredients..

red 6, yellow's blue's all those artificial colorings and preservatives as you were stating. These are known to be the main cause of the alarming rates of autism and ADHD...in children. I choose not to feed my children any of this stuff.

I can go on all day about some of the stuff that is out there ....these are just to name a few...
but I would love to start a dialog that would be great.
